Introduction

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of human rights. CityWide Cleaners Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, and we are committed to conducting all our business dealing ethically and with integrity and to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking.

This statement outlines the steps and responsibility CityWide Cleaners Ltd takes as a business to identify and prevent slavery and trafficking in its operations and supply chains in compliance with The Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Supply Chains

CityWide Cleaners Ltd has direct contact with several reputable UK based suppliers who supply the equipment and materials used to perform our services as well as consumables we supply to our clients. We also employ an accountant who is UK based and deals with our accounts. The company ensures supply chains operate in compliance with the principles of responsible sourcing and adhere to our values and ethics. Supply chains are made aware of our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery from the onset of our relationship with them.

Slavery and Human Trafficking Policies

We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery in any part of our business and in our supply chains. The company are responsible for implementing this policy, monitoring its effectiveness, dealing with queries about it, auditing control systems and procedures to make sure they are efficient in countering modern slavery.

Management is responsible for ensuring adequate and regular training on modern slavery in supply chains is given to those reporting to them and ensuring they comply with the policy.

Due Diligence Process

Policies and systems are in place within the company and our supply chains to:

  • Identify inappropriate employment practices
  • Identify, access, and monitor other potential risk areas
  • Minimise the risk of slavery and human trafficking
  • Protect whistle-blowers
  • Investigate reports of Modern Slavery

Training

In-house training is provided for all employees and is a part of our induction process to ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.

Covid 19

Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in some workers becoming more vulnerable to modern slavery. CityWide Cleaners Ltd has adopted government guidelines to ensure Covid 19 secure workplaces and paying statutory sick pay to prevent the spread of the virus. Employees have access to our grievance procedures.

Statement

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the Company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31st December 2021 and was approved by the Director of CityWide Cleaners Ltd on 05 April 2021.
